My thoughts on film, music, art, culture and my life. Let us begin...

alreadygettingmurdered asked
Beta code is like 4 months old. This is an actual beta. Not a 'beta pretending to be a demo".

Ok so the new question is: who in their right mind would release an Open Beta with 4 month old glitches in it, 1 month before release. You’d be crazy to say that it isn’t driven primarily by carless advertising and promoting NOT testing. And to have it open to thousands of console users who know very well that Call of Duty is their direct competition… Sorry bro, that makes very little strategic sense.

Will Battlefield 3 Put Me Into A Deep Depression?

It’s a valid question.

I am one of the thousands of gamers who have been tremendously excited for the upcoming Battlefield installment. We have waited for months to see tiny screenshots and read even the shortest of developer interviews. All building up to that special opportunity to play: The Open Beta.

Now, I myself game on the Xbox 360.

…Yes yes, “Battlefield is meant for the PC with all it’s graphical/64 player glory”.

But I have always been a console gamer and for the first time DICE has decided to vocally challenge Call of Duty. Which we all know is primarily a console franchise.

Which leads to the onset of depression.

I’ve spent the last 3 days playing the Beta. And I have never seen such a “one month to go” mess.

-Seemingly hundreds of glitches.

-Uninspiring graphics

-And an extremely close quarters, no vehicle, DOESN’T FEEL LIKE BATTLEFIELD map

I can only imagine what Battlefield newbies are thinking upon first setting foot into this atmosphere. (Although I’m guessing it’s something like, ” What the hell is this” followed by a , “I am definitly going to be buying Call of Duty”.

The worst part about all of it? I hear (and see) that thanks to Caspian Border, the maxed out PC Beta was great!

Way to one up Call of Duty on the console, Dice.

Way to use your “Beta” to ultimately be a glitchy Demo and a deciding factor on whether or not to buy the game.

-End of rant-

I personally have already pre-ordered and (overlooking the above) continue to countdown the days to it’s release.

I haven’t given up hope.

…But If I AM depressed come November, I know one developer I will not be thankful for this Thanksgiving.

Yet another impression compilation video that is actually worth watching. He doesn’t nail all 87 (his Dexter impression for example) but I’d say at least 60 were pretty spot on. And that is commendable.

So my first week of work kept me from making this weeks “Vague Movie Review”. Instead I present you with a gift from a few awesome guys in the form of “Dear Diary Episode 1”. Enjoy!

Just got done watching Bungie’s Halo farewell documentary and I gotta tell you, it gets me pretty emotional. Thanks for making me a gamer, Bungie.

Just got done checking out the arcade game “From Dust” on my 360. I have found it to be one of my favorite arcade game experiences yet! It’s a sandbox style god game like no other that allows you to mold the earth in order to protect the natives inhabiting it. I’m reminded of the old days before my xbox when I’d surround myself in PC RTS’s. Plus, I’m always happy to stumble on an demo that I actually do NOT want to quit after the first minute! The mix of creativity, mechanics and time management make this one well worth the buy!
